Website Design and Branding for Cannabis Pre-Roll Company

Karma Originals is the biggest pre-roll distribution company in the NW. They came to At First Sight Creative after outgrowing their DIY branding and design. Karma needed to escape the GoDaddy “template trap” and required a gorgeous site with more usability features to show off their high quality cannabis products.

One of those usability features we incorporated into their Squarespace website was a map featuring all of the locations where one could buy their products. We also created pages specifically for each product type, so while the business doesn’t currently have e-commerce capabilities, visitors can get a good sense of all the products offered.

The company had some existing visual branding in place by means of a logo and packaging designs, but they did not have a brand guide set up to educate new and existing employees on the best practices for their brand designs. The owner of Karma Originals and I worked together to define who is was that the company was serving. We went through multiple branding exercises to help create a brand voice to use throughout marketing endeavors and to help come up with a color palette that represented the brand personality.

We realized that there was an overlap with the quality goods he put out in the world, and the good he provided the world, through charitable donations.

Karma Originals’ Goal: make good cannabis products and
do good for the community around us.

The brand guides below will be used in-house or for hired on marketing/design agencies for all future designs. Using one single guide will help create brand recognition for the company. Brand recognition helps keep the company top of mind when people shop for the company’s products. Over time, this will allow clients, partners or cannabis connoisseurs to recognize any piece of Karma Originals collateral, even without the logo representing it.

Human psychology tells us that the more a person sees a person, company or branding, the more they grow to like it. Think about hearing a song over and over, the first time you hear it you may not think it's amazing, but after six or seven times, all of a sudden it's stuck in your head. This is why brand recognition is so important for Karma Originals.
